No Insurance? Here's How to Apply for Medicaid and Start OTP Treatment in the Greater Seattle Area
If you or someone you love is struggling with opioid dependence and doesn't have health insurance, getting help may feel out of reach. The cost of treatment, the paperwork, the uncertainty—it can all feel overwhelming before you've even taken the first step.
But here's what matters most: You don't have to figure this out alone, and you don't have to wait.
At We Care Daily Clinics, with locations in Auburn, Tacoma, SODO, and North Seattle, we help patients navigate the insurance process every day. We believe that access to care should never stand between you and recovery.
What is Apple Health—and Could You Qualify?
Washington State's Medicaid program is called Apple Health. It provides free or low-cost health coverage to eligible residents, and it covers opioid treatment programs (OTP), including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) with methadone or buprenorphine.
You may qualify for Apple Health if you:
Are a Washington State resident
Are a U.S. citizen or meet immigration eligibility requirements
Meet income guidelines (many adults earning up to 138% of the federal poverty level qualify)
Are not currently enrolled in another qualifying health plan
The good news? Most uninsured adults in King County and Pierce County who seek OTP treatment qualify for Apple Health. Eligibility is broader than most people expect.
How to Apply to Apple Health in Washington State
Our team at We Care Daily Clinics can help you understand your options and connect you with the right resources to complete your Apple Health application. Whether you're in Auburn, Tacoma, or visiting one of our Seattle locations in SODO or North Seattle—you don't have to navigate this alone.
How Quickly Can Coverage Start?
This is one of the most common questions we hear, and the answer is encouraging.
For many applicants, Apple Health coverage can begin the same month you apply, and in some cases, a retroactive coverage period applies. Once your application is approved, you can begin your OTP enrollment at We Care Daily Clinics right away.
Don’t wait for approval to reach out. Our staff can discuss your options and, in many cases, begin the intake process while your Apple Health application is still in progress.
You Deserve Care—Wherever You Are in the Process
Recovery doesn't start when the paperwork is done. It starts when you decide to take the first step.
We Care Daily Clinics provides opioid treatment programs for patients across the greater Puget Sound region—from Auburn and Federal Way to Kent, Renton, Tacoma, and Seattle. Our compassionate team is experienced in helping uninsured and underinsured patients access the Apple Health coverage they need to begin and sustain treatment.
